The national government has announced plans to improve transparency in the VET sector through implementation of Unique Student Identifiers (USIs). The scheme will see all new and existing VET students assigned a number that will provide RTOs, students, employers and government access to that students complete VET history and records.
This new system will enable:
- Students to access their complete record including VET enrolment and achievement history from one source.
- RTOs to easily assess for pre-requisite completion and credit transfers
- Improved data collection for evidence-based VET programs.
Training will be available to RTOs during 2013 to assist with implementation of the new initiative.
