Retention of Student Assessment Items
ASQA has released a direction clarifying how long RTOs are required to retain documents used in the student assessment process (e.g. assessment tools, completed assignments, observation checklists etc.)
These items must be securely retained for either:
- the duration of the RTO’s assessment appeal period
- a period of six months from the date on which the student was judged as competent
- the duration of the student’s enrolment
and must be whichever of these is the longest period.
RTOs should note they may have agreements with other organisations (e.g.in relation to government funding or graduate licensing) that require longer retention periods. Read the direction here.
